Solar Energy Services
In a unique partnership with the Campbell Union High School District, Bartos Architecture led an alliance of designers, manufacturers and builders in a CA Government Code 4271 negotiated agreement for electrical power generation.
CUHSD Project Description
A 3.75 Megawatt equivalent Solar Electric Generation and Delivery system for the CUHSD on eight District Sites.
Innovation
Bartos Architecture conceived of, designed, and has procured DSA Pre-Check (PC) approval of a Modular Solar Canopy system for the generation and distribution of electrical power. The PC includes different slopes and seismic zones to suit unique sites. This unique, patent pending system (App No. 13/663,412) has key components that are factory fabricated then placed and installed on site, increasing quality while reducing installation times and maximizing price savings.
Support for Public Schools
Through a special agreement, Bartos Architecture has transferred the copyright of our design to the Campbell Union High School District. The CUHSD consequentially licenses these design documents to other school districts interested in pursuing a solar canopy project.
Plans are intended to be re-usable with minimal site work design being required. System and inverter sizing as well as power distribution is designed on a per site basis. The CUHSD Modular Solar Canopy vastly simplifies and speeds up the overall process.
The overall cost per megawatt is lower than the cost of similar systems provided by large energy providers, while the factory manufacturing allows for improved quality.
Cost Savings
Our process is an “open book” approach to the project cost. All time and component costs are clearly shared with the client and any savings developed during the design/fabrication/construction process are in turn passed on to the client.
As an example, as Solar panel prices (modules) ($/watt) decline, the savings are returned to the District. Therefore the fabricator does not keep resultant savings as profit.
Options
A district has multiple options for improved quality including upgrades to paint coating system, concealed wire management, security fasteners, and anti-theft monitoring capabilities.
All key component items are put out to multiple bid and negotiated in order to get best value. The client has the ability to select contractors and vendors, not only on price, but also on quality.
Customizable for Your Needs
Through our unique collaboration, we can customize a solution that fits your needs. Optional upgrades allow implementation of features and aesthetic modifications that suit a particular campus.
