Job Desription

Making A Difference

  • If you are an Architect or an Architect In Training (AIT) and want to collaborate with a team engaged in projects that are good for society please read on.
  • Working at Bartos Architecture you will be fully invested in our projects.
  • You will have opportunities to participate in all aspects of our projects: marketing, programming, schematic design, construction documents, specifications, cost estimating, construction administration and more.

The Basics

Salary | Benefits

  • All salary offers are dependent upon experience, education, licensure.

Essential Qualifications

  • English Fluency Required: Other languages: Appreciated
  • Must be Covid Vaccinated

Experience

  • Knowledge of California Building Code, Construction / design practices, especially in relation to Public / School facilities
  • Preferred 5 years of experience in California K12 public schools.
    If you have a commitment to public work and are interested in learning about school facilities, we will train you. We are a “school of architecture.”
  • If you have experience in other areas but you are interested in public school facilities, please apply.

Licensure

Preferred, Not required, if you have the right experience
Architect: (Licensed in California). OR demonstrate progress towards licensure and intent to gain licensure.

Education

We are mostly interested in the enthusiasm and experience you can bring to the office.

Role/Tasks (this list is not all inclusive)

You don’t have to know how to do all these things initially. We will train/teach/coach the right candidates. These are “tasks” that Architects do. But you don’t have to be able to ALL of these. If you are the right candidate, we will fit you in to our team based on your experience and your personal goals and interests.

  • Manage development of construction documents
  • Manage Consultants
  • Manage agencies (especially DSA)
  • Interface with Clients
  • Design. Facilitate rendering development as needed
  • Construction Drawings
  • Project Manuals, Specifications and Front Ends
  • Construction Administration Services
  • Develop Project Proposals / Contracts
  • Manage project (fees and progress)
  • Develop Project Cost Estimates (or in collaboration with estimators)

Skills

  • Be an open and collaborative team member.
  • Be a leader or want to grow into leadership.
  • AutoCAD Proficient.
  • Revit: Appreciated but not required.
  • Bluebeam Proficient.
  • Adobe (InDesign/Illustrator) a big plus but not required
  • Sketchup a big plus, but not required. (ability to work with team)
  • California Building Code knowledge proficient a plus

  • Our projects are challenging and mostly involve taking care of existing buildings. We are highly interactive with user groups and their needs.
